Letter from Dr. Mark Law, Chair

I've benefitted enormously from my membership in IEEE, which I started when I was a student. I've been a member since 1978 (Thirty years!).

There are obvious benefits like networking, leadership opportunities, access to technical publications, and conferences.

There are also less obvious benefits. They have a wonderful array of financial services - credit cards and insurance. I have my life insurance through them and it is easily the best price I could find. They have excellent deals on other insurance and the credit card rates are low. Through IEEE-USA, they lobby the government on issues related to the profession. There are lots of professional recognition opportunities, like senior membership and eventually fellow. The professional networking past student days is outstanding.

I encourage you to consider joining the IEEE!

Mark Law

Chair, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
